May Fine condition in a Near Fine dustjacket. A very nice copy of Heaney's second book. Inscribed and Dated By Author. Fine in bright and clean near fine dustwrapper but for some old adhesive stains from a homemade jacket protector on the inside of the jacket, one of which offsets onto the front flap. Inscribed by Heaney to an American poet: "for - Slainte! Seamus Heaney. Signed by the author to the title page in black ink. Book is in Fine condition, jacket is Near Fine with a 1cm clean tear at top of front panel. Seller Inventory B First edition, second impression, signed by Seamus Heaney to the title page. Loosely enclosed is a lovely ALS from Heaney dated 12 August , and written at my parents home in the North of Ireland , running to over words, replying to two schoolgirls from Dorset who had written to him following a television appearance, in which he responds: One of my happiest memories is of lying on Maiden Castle watching the hares shift about on the nearby hills, all during a long, sunny afternoon.

The letter has been folded and the black ink is a little faded.
